The Dream Continues: Preserving the legacy of ceramic artist Iggy Sumnik

We are the family, close friends, and studio partners who celebrate Iggy and share the goals of publishing his art and supporting community art nonprofits.

This initiative aims to honor Iggy’s legacy by showing his remaining artwork in as many places as possible. This will allow people and communities to enjoy the fun and beauty of his creations.

This website will serve as a place to showcase Iggy’s outstanding body of work, and keep supporters informed of upcoming events related to the sale and display of Iggy’s art.

“The Dream Continues”

Iggy’s family and friends continue to:

  • Move Iggy’s remaining artwork to as many places as possible for people and communities to enjoy the fun and beauty of his creations.

  • Continue Iggy’s legacy with fundraising around the sale of his art to support community art education programs Iggy was closely involved with including The Bemis Center, WhyArts, and Lauritzen Gardens in Omaha, and Detroit’s College for Creative Studies described just below. More organizations will be added later, and Iggy’s friends are encouraged to join his estate in supporting these programs.

The Iggy Sumnik Family has endowed the Iggy Sumnik Memorial Fund for Community Arts Educators to recognize the creativity and dedication of the College for Creative Studies Community Arts Partnership Teaching Artists, like Iggy. It is intended to provide ongoing support and professional development for them, and to ensure the continuation of Iggy’s commitment to fostering creativity in youth by those artists who share his passion.

Your gift will build the endowment and provide more resources for community teaching artists to inspire young people through art.
